Hello soon-to-be leafy green lover! Downing a glass of green pulp may appear to be some celebrity induced diet fad, though I can put my hand to my heart and say that once you try a green smoothie, you’ll most likely become insanely addicted.
Why? It’s a quick and easy way to get large amounts of fruits and leafy greens into your daily diet, and give your body the plant-based nutrients it craves. It’s a natural energy booster, keeps you healthy year-round as it’s packed with disease-fighting antioxidants, and is by far the best ‘fast food’ I pack in my bag each day. It’s so integrated into my routine that at 5am New Years day, all the way from Auckland New Zealand where I was holidaying with friends – my first Instagram post for 2015 was my favourite green smoothie!
My Favourite Green Smoothie Recipe
What you’ll need (serves one):
– Large bunch of Baby Spinach
– 1 Granny Smith Apple (cored, sliced)
– 2 cups of water (can be substituted for coconut water)
– 3 Ice cubes (to serve chilled)
– 5 Mint leaves (to taste – experiment to find your ideal mix)
– 6 pieces of sliced pineapple (a natural sweetener)
PLUS my secret ingredient…
– 1 scoop of Nuzest ‘Good Green Stuff’
Blend until smooth (I religiously use the Nutri-Bullet) and ENJOY!
My Secret Ingredient
The NUZEST ‘Good Green Stuff’ is a super-blend of nutrient-rich greens, fruits, vegetables, herbs and berries that packages all your daily nutritional needs into one great-tasting product (yes, it actually tastes DELICIOUS)!! It’s strengthened with added vitamins, minerals, prebiotics, probiotics, digestive enzymes, antioxidants and more – making it the stand-out product in it’s category.
Finding Your Ideal Lifestyle Formula
Talking about bowels and gut health seems to be a normal topic of conversation amongst those in the health, fitness and wellness industry, though in my experience it seems to be a rather taboo topic outside of that.
From birth I have been blessed/cursed with an incredibly fast metabolism. Allow me to illustrate a delicate picture for you… My twin and I can consume an entire punnet of dates, he’ll be over the loo in a matter of hours, whilst me – well, a few days later perhaps. This has meant years of trial and error to establish the ideal balance of nutrition and exercise for my ultimate ‘lifestyle formula’.
A lot of the fine tuning I owe to my personal trainer, Blake Worrall-Thompson – read up on my 6 Weeks to Sexy post here. Being exposed to a completely different (and intense) method of training to get out of my comfort zone, and mingling with a group of fitness trainers, nutritionists & dieticians, has meant my own knowledge of nutrition + exercise has exponentially grown over the past year. One of the best additions I’ve made to my diet (and by diet I mean lifestyle routine) is a green smoothie in the morning during breakfast WITH my go-to supplement Nuzest Good Green Stuff. My organs love me for it and my skin/hair has never looked or felt so good! My acne-prone skin days are a thing of the past, and (combined with the tender loving care of Kevin McKenzie Hair London) my blonde locks have grown LONGER with less breakage in the past year than it has in the last 5 years.
Your body is most precious possession, so take good care of it.
And in case you’re having doubts about the cost of health…just think, it’s cheaper than paying for sickness. Two years and cold+flu-free, yay!
Yours in good health,
